Eggs-Pysanky Folklore:
Pysanky egg decoration is an ancient art that dates back more than 2000 years. It is a sacred art and a mystical expression. The peace and goodness needed to create it is transferred into the egg itself and as a result it is reported to ward off evil in whatever household it is displayed.
How it is made:
This art uses a wax and dye method similar to batik. The egg is emptied to keep it from exploding and has been coated with over 12 coats of varnish to protect it from breaking.
Care of your gift:
Keeping it out of direct sunlight (or spotlights) will prevent it from yellowing. You can display your egg in a glass case, napkin holder, egg cup, shot glass or candle holder.
